Newsletter Resins & Additives for Coatings

Dedicated to supporting our customers, and striving to find new ways to collaborate with every one of you

Dear Readers,

I trust that this newsletter finds you safe and well amid this time of constant change. Throughout 2020, the health of our teams, customers and partners has been the most important thing to us – and this is especially true as we see the COVID-19 transmission rate rise again and the prospect of a difficult winter ahead. But despite all the difficulties, the industry continues to show a heartening commitment to co-operation and innovation, coming up with new ways to work together despite remaining apart. At BASF, our message is simple: We are always there for you and we are always open to exchange with our customers.

Some things that would have been an essential part of our jobs last year have changed beyond recognition in 2020. Attending industry events is one of these, and it was with a heavy heart that we decided BASF’s Dispersions and Resins unit would not go to the European Coatings Show. The show has since been postponed and will now take place on 14-16 September 2021. But at present, there are too many variables for us to be able to organise a presence at such an event. In every decision, we must prioritize safety for all those involved.

Nevertheless, we are dedicated to supporting our customers, and we have been striving to find new ways to collaborate with every one of you to ensure your success.

In that spirit, we are preparing a set of virtual seminars and resources, in which we will discuss new products and solutions that can deliver benefits to our customers and keep their businesses healthy and sustainable. Look out for details of these soon.

In this newsletter you can find everything you need to know about our new, highly protective Joncryl® 953X portfolio for grain enhancement; our cost-effective and more sustainable solutions Acronal® and Joncryl® PRO for protecting metals against corrosion damage; and Efka® PB 2770, the silicone-free defoamer of choice for radiation curing systems.

Let’s keep working together, sharing insight, and stay strong throughout the pandemic.

Stay healthy,

Frank Hezel

Dear Readers,

We are pleased to invite you to our final series of web seminars in 2020.

The topics we have chosen to complete this year’s program are:

  • UV stabilization of UV-curable systems,
  • Efka® PB 2744 - an excellent defoamer for fast and effective deaeration of 100% solid systems, in combination with our Sovermol® range - performance-driven polyols based on natural oil,
  • additives for reactive systems
  • and how additives help bring about a sustainable future.

We are already working on the first set of sessions for 2021. So stay tuned – there is more to come!

Web Seminars for Performance and Formulation Additives, 4th Series 2020

Topics covered this time include our dispersion toolbox, which enables label-free universal pigment concentrates, and Rheovis PU 1340, our highly efficient Newtonian PU thickener for flat to high-gloss coatings in the areas of architectural coatings. In addition, we deal with light stabilizers due to several requests. We present Tinuvin 5866 – the optimal solution for a wide range of applications, typically sealants that heat up in the sun – and Tinuvin 533-DW for joinery, wood and other industrial coatings that require UV-A and UV-B protection.
