Quality and sustainability in one pack
How can you reduce environmental impact without affecting costs or print quality? Our broad range of raw materials for water-based flexographic and rotogravure printing inks can help. At the Print4All exhibition in Milan, we unveiled new solutions.
Besides sustainability, one of the most important focuses today is packaging quality, especially that of food packaging. Within the wider context of food safety, there is growing demand for solutions that prevent external agents in the packaging from affecting the food. BASF is contributing to the development of such solutions by using raw materials that adhere to the strictest quality and safety standards. At the Print4All exhibition in Milan, we unveiled our water-based solutions for flexible packaging.
A recent eco-efficiency analysis showed that water-based inks reduce carbon footprint and the environmental impact of packaging. Joncryl® FLX polyurethane and styrene-acrylate dispersions, which comply with food contact regulations, enable the formulation of water-based inks suitable for both surface and lamination film printing.
At Print4All, we also presented the results of a study on water-based inks for rotogravure printing on flexible packaging that we carried out together with a printing machinery manufacturer, an ink producer and a brand owner. The press trials demonstrated good print quality, adhesion, resistance properties and gloss.
