Interpack 2023: smoothing the path to sustainable packaging
Dear Readers,
At Interpack 2023 in Düsseldorf, the BASF Resins team showcased progressive packaging solutions and cooperation partnerships with customers. The industry is clearly embracing sustainability and collaboration with the objective of shaping a more sustainable future. Reflecting this emphasis, BASF is working in cooperation with partners throughout the packaging value chain to help improve the sustainability of various products throughout their life cycle.
The Resins team presented fully water-based printed and converted paper and flexible packaging among other exhibits. These progressive solutions allow customers to achieve lower carbon emissions, reduce plastic waste and increase the share of renewables in their products. One particular highlight that attracted strong interest was the Joncryl® HPB product line, which enables packaging to be recycled via the regular paper waste stream.

How we’re contributing to a sustainable chemical industry
Dear Readers,
We specialize in helping our customers overcome their challenges. Without a doubt, the greatest challenge of our time is climate change. It is our responsibility to do what it takes to make our industry function within planetary boundaries, and to reach carbon-neutrality as soon as we can.
At BASF, our strategic focus on sustainability starts with our own organization. We have made robust CO2-reduction commitments, including an overall goal to reach net zero by 2050, with an intermediate milestone of a 25% absolute emissions reduction by 2030 (from 2018 baseline, Scope 1 & 2).
