Coating applications, including those in the automotive coatings and the coil coatings industries, can be highly energy intensive. Curing the coatings system requires a great deal of heat if the desired performance is to be achieved. The Green Deal, together with rising energy costs, has triggered demand for low-cure systems that don’t adversely affect coatings properties.

With Basonol® HPE 1170B, you can lower curing temperatures significantly and also avoid extensive re-formulation. You not only cut costs but also reduce your products’ carbon footprint!

This hyperbranched polyester can be added as a co-binder (5-20%) to existing 2K PU high-solid or conventional solvent-borne as well as to 1K melamine formulations.

Not only does Basonol® HPE 1170B help reduce costs ‒ it also improves end properties such as surface hardness as well as resistance to chemicals at a lower temperature and to aggressive, heated chemicals.

Increased reactivity makes Basonol® HPE 1170B suitable for low-temperature curing and curing of heat-sensitive substrates such as plastic parts. It is particularly effective in applications such as automotive OEM and coil coatings.
